Tango people have been often seen as strange to non-dancers. How bizarre are tango people really? Did you experience that people you knew from the time “BEFORE” your tango activities slowly withdraw since you got into tango? Or is it just the fact that YOU actually withdraw from them? Are we really weird?
- You realize that you dress differently
- In clubs with extremely loud music you feel uncomfortable
- Too many drinks make you suddenly dizzy
- You are not concentrated on listening to the talks your friends are in.
- Talking to them makes you feel bored.
- Start talking about your tango experiences and your friends are just rolling their eyes.
How bizarre are tango people ?
We even dispatch from our normal social life. After a while not only the evenings we will spend differently.
- Soon we are not joining our girlfriends for shopping like before, because we spend all the money on tango shoes.
- Long weekends we are not sharing with our friends in the countryside or on a sailing trip as before, because now we are joining marathons, encuentros.
- Our holidays we spend on diverse festivals and tango vacations or we just fly directly to Buenos Aires.
Actually yes, we do behave weird. At least for a while, some month, even years we will be mostly busy with our tango activities.
We actually do not understand ourselves, how shall our friends or non-dancers ?
After some years, and should we still be on that train called “tango“, everything comes to relation again. Beside our regular tango activities we will still have time for some other hobbies to do. We will revitalize old contacts, just to have a coffee once in a while, listen to other stuffs than just tango. We will reconnect with hobbies you had before to clear our mind.
Wrong, very wrong. Maybe we will take a break of Tango. Maybe we found a boy/girlfriend and now our free time seems to precious to always spend in Milongas.
But for sure one day we will come back to our tango activities.
Tango is immortal, it catches you again, if you want or not.
