Blissful moments while dancing Tango ?

As we all know, tango is sensual, social, uplifting, calming and peaceful, and such excitement that you could get obsessed with tango. As a natural follower myself, but also dancing the lead, I have made some interesting observations during my tango life. These give me a special point of view about the differences how we sense blissful moments while dancing tango. Let’s see how people perceive the effects of tango meditation.

There are many dancers, followers, leaders they see tango as a dancesport. Others find in tango a social game, where we hold each other and move to the music and have fun. There are couples just in their beginnings and still struggle with lead and follow. And a few dancers have found something very special in tango, tango meditation.

Sense blissful moments while dancing tango!it’s possible.

The demanding role of the leader.

No doubt, the leader’s role is much more demanding than that of the follower.

He has to manage the dance, the music, space. His awareness will always be divided between the partner and the “outer world”.

This is where beginner leader, will have a difficult time to enjoy the dance. Multiple tasking, managing the dance floor and the music etc, will distract the leader’s attention.

Often they are overwhelmed with the situation. They simply chose to ignore the other couples around. At the end they bump into the one or other.

The follower has her eyes closed to sense blissful moments.

The follower role is less challenging compared to the leader role.

She trusts  him to take care, she will have 100% attention to him and the music. Some followers (mostly beginners) often get dizzy or are afraid to close eyes, while they will miss out the peak sensation. I highly recommend try again and again until succeed. Women who dance with eyes open, will not get into that state of total relaxation.

With her eyes closed (like in any meditation practice), she will intensely feel the 3 elements:

  1. connection with the heart chakra
  2. The music
  3. The rhythmical movements

These elements are the key factors to experience tangasm.

The 3  powerful elements in tango meditation.

Eventually, her consciousness will rise into higher spiritual space. This state of tango meditation will allow her to feel blissful moments. She will sense a shower of wellbeing. Known as the “tangasm”, this phenomenon is totally independent of the partner itself. The level of dancing the leader has, plus the connection in the couple, is decisive.

I like to quote Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh :

“When we hug, our hearts connect and we know that we are not separate beings. Hugging with mindfulness and concentration can bring reconciliation, healing, understanding, and much happiness. The practice of mindful hugging has helped so many to reconcile with each other- fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, friends and friends, and so many others.”

The leader has a less advantageous position to feel the bliss.

The leader will definitely feel a certain state of wellbeing.

He will sense the closeness of the follower body. He will be aware of his responsibilities for his partner. His tasks to guide her, to protect her, gives him the feeling of importance.  But he will hardly feel the “spiritual bliss”, even with years of experience. He needs his eyes open to manage multiple tasks, while the lady sinks into devotion.
This is comparable with the driver in a car.  He might enjoy the music but is still concentrating on the traffic. In opposite the person next to him can close the eyes, listen to the music and just sway away into dream mood.

The level of experience, security, relaxation, and musicality the leader has, plus the simplicity of moves he selects, will define his sensations. As less, he takes tango as a sporty challenge, as higher his chances to sense blissful moments. To feel the bliss needs training for both parts, for the leader a little bit more.

Why women get easily obsessed with Tango.

I see in this phenomenon of tangasm itself, the reason for the fact, that women in general get obsessed with tango. Men more or less keep a more relaxed or “practical” connection to the dance.

Getting obsessed with tango is not a bad thing in general, as long as you know how to handle. Tango can be poison or medicine. The choice is yours.

I definitely suggest leaders to learn to follow and to try out my class ” tango meditation ”. He will learn and understand what women feel while dancing. Often the situation is overwhelming.

As a conclusion, he might choose less complicated combinations to give the connection to the partner and the music most value.

Check out our holistic tango retreat where you will be introduced to a new dimension of tango and maybe  you will get obsessed with tango but you will have adopted a great tool to enhance or repair your relationship. Do not miss out this great chance.
