Tango Milonguero – the authentic argentine tango

“If you really want a woman to love you, then you have to dance.

And if you don’t want to dance, then you’re going to have to work extra hard

to make a woman love you forever, and you will always run the risk

that she will leave you at any second for a man who knows how to tango.”

– Sherman Alexie –

The authentic argentine tango.

Do you want to start with tango? No worries, yes I will make you dance.

When we start to know about tango, we often have the image of flying legs and dramatic poses. Tango for the social dance floor works differently. The authentic Argentine tango is giving and receiving…..After passing my beginner course (1-7) you will have all the necessary tools you need, to enjoy the milongas. From the bottom of my heart, please make the effort and learn proper basics. Do not miss-use the milongas to learn for free by error!

Think of your partner and your mates around, make the effort, you will not regret it.

My program consists of 2 different courses:

Course A – Preparation for Milonga – Beginner to Intermediate Level –  10,5 hrs

The first course is a preparation for social tango dancing. We begin with simple walking as a couple of exercises. Here we overcome the challenges of moving the “vehicle with 4 legs”. Leaders will get prepared with a starter kit, a simple figure you always may come back to. Progressing further to circular movements you will learn the pivot. Satisfy any women since you give her space and time for some embellishments. Rather don’t stumble over some mistakes, turn those into new options. Learn to improvise. Finally, I will open the door for you to a new, immense field, the music. In conclusion, I will introduce you to some important facts about history and culture in tango.

After passing all classes 1-7 you will have all the necessary knowledge and practice to enjoy yourself and your dance partners. You are ready to go out to a milonga.

Here are my classes in detail:

1. The power of the embrace.

The first course is a preparation for social tango dancing. It gives you all the information you need to know before you even start to dance. After discussing posture, connection, axis and weight changing we will explore all details about the embrace.

2.   The meditative sensation of the tango walk

Further, we begin with simple walking as a couple of exercise. Here we overcome the challenges of moving the “vehicle with 4 legs”. The meditative sensation of tango milonguero is often underestimated in western countries.

All about the tango walk in the parallel system combined with zero position and weight changing as a powerful tool. Intro to musicality using 2 different timings.

3. Secrets in a box

Leaders will get prepared with a starter kit, a simple figure you always may come back to. This basic structure allows you to put your focus on the connection to your partner. This makes it possible for you to explore different rhythms in the music. We will extend the “Baldosa” into the basic eight by including a new element, the cross. Deepen your understandings and routines in this very basic starter kit to master the authentic Argentine tango.

4. Discover the pivot

Progressing further to circular movements you will learn to pivot. Due to clean pivots followers will become easy to lead and leaders become smooth dancers. We use pivots to change directions. Furthermore, one step and a pivot create an Ocho.

Front or Back ochos are the first beautiful and most danced sequences in the authentic Argentine tango.

5. Sensual embellishments

Satisfy any women since you give her space and time for some embellishments. She will express gratefulness with some divine decorations.

All about the sandwich, planeos followed by divine decorations.

I will show you how to bring sensuality into the dance by adding some embellishments at the right spots at the right moment.

6. The art of improvisation

Rather don’t stumble over mistakes, turn those into new options. I will show you how to turn your “mistakes”  into new creations. Here the authentic Argentine tango finds its improvisation Tango Milonguero is an improvisation dance. After you get used to all the sequences, you will start to create new combinations by mix and match the sequences.

7. Building awareness for the dance and the music

Finally, I will open the door for you to a new, immense field, the music. Get a basic introduction about the differences in tango, vals and milonga rhythm. A short introduction to the historical background and the code of the Milonga, a must know when dancing in Buenos Aires.
